Who runs this site
BritishCalendar.co.uk is run by Tommy Derngren as a private individual, who is the data controller for what is described here. Send any questions to contact@britishcalendar.co.uk.
The short version
The site has no accounts, forms or logins and sets no cookies of its own. But it shows ads from Google AdSense and measures visits with Google Analytics. Those use cookies, and only if you have agreed in the consent message shown on your first visit.
Server logs
The web server logs every request: IP address, time, the page requested and the browser used. The logs are needed to run the site and to spot errors and abuse (legitimate interests). They are deleted after 14 days.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit the site and which pages
they use. If you consent, cookies such as _ga and
_ga_<id> are set (they last up to two years). Google keeps detailed
event data for 2 months and data tied to a user for 14 months. If you decline, no Analytics cookies are set;
Google then only receives anonymous, cookieless signals that a page was viewed.
Google may transfer data to the United States. Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension.
Ads from Google AdSense
The site is free and paid for by ads from Google AdSense.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's advertising cookies enable it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- Example cookies:
__gadsand__gpi(for britishcalendar.co.uk) andIDE(for doubleclick.net), which last up to 13 months. Your choice in the consent message is stored inFCCDCFandFCNEC. - The
__eoicookie is used to detect fraud and abuse of the ads. It is needed to show ads at all, so it is set even if you decline. - If you decline personalised ads you will still see ads, but they won't be based on your earlier visits.
- The full list of Google's ad partners is in the consent message, which you can reopen with the link below.
Read more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can turn off personalised ads from Google in My Ad Center, and from other vendors at youronlinechoices.eu and aboutads.info.
Changing your choice
Cookies from Analytics and AdSense are based on your consent, and you can change it at any time. Click Privacy and cookie settings (also at the bottom of every page) to reopen the consent message. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to know what data is held about you, to have it corrected or erased, and to object to how it is used. Cookies are also covered by PECR. Data held by Google is easiest to manage through your Google account and the links above. If you are unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
